A custom (also called a tradition) is a common way of doing things. It is something that many people do, and have done for a long time. Usually, the people come from the same country, culture, or religion. Many customs are things that people do that are handed down from the past. -an inherited, established, or customary pattern of thought, action, or behaviour (such as a religious practice or a social custom) -a belief or story or a body of beliefs or stories relating to the past that are commonly accepted as historical though not verifiable – the handing down of information, beliefs, and customs by word of mouth or by example from one generation to another without written instruction Tradition is important and is found in every culture.

In its pure state, it is good, necessary and essential.

-Tradition comes from the word trade are to transmit.

-Tradition is a tool that was created to deliver reality. -Tradition is a rapping in which truth find itself, to deliver to the next generation.

-Tradition is very important and very valid because it is what we are now transferring to our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren The problem of tradition is when it becomes dangerous. The good of tradition is to preserve, protect and to deliver experience and establish truth from one generation to the next. Tradition is only valid when it delivers the original truth it intended. That means when tradition stop delivering to you the original truth, that tradition becomes invalid. The danger of tradition is when it takes the place of the truth it supposed to deliver. That tradition is dangerous. Tradition was created to lead us to the truth and not become the truth. Tradition was interned to lead us to truth not tradition. When the means become the end we are in trouble.

Mathew 15:1-6 15 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. We are to be careful that we are working for nothing. We as kingdom citizens should check every tradition, because if we don’t check tradition we can be living a lie. It is the responsibility of every generation to study tradition and ask questions, and if possible change them. If tradition is wrong, the present reality is wrong. If we ignore the purpose of a tradition it will never deliver what it supposed to deliver. The transfer of ignorance is the betrayal and sacrifice of the next generation.

Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”
